Community Benefit scheme

Our Story

We believe reconciliation isn't built through words alone. It's built through relationships, respect, and taking meaningful action.

That's why we created our Membership Benefit Program.

The program brings together our members, Aboriginal businesses and businesses that are committed to walking alongside our community. It's about creating opportunities that benefit everyone by supporting local Aboriginal enterprise, providing value to our members, and building partnerships that are grounded in mutual respect.

In partnership with New Track Solutions, Awabakal Local Aboriginal Land Council set out to create a program that delivers real benefits, not only for our organisation, but for our members, Aboriginal businesses and the broader community. Together, we explored ways to strengthen economic participation, create meaningful partnerships and provide businesses with a practical opportunity to contribute to reconciliation.

The result is a program that we believe creates shared value. It supports our members through exclusive benefits, provides Aboriginal businesses with greater exposure and opportunities for growth, and gives businesses a genuine pathway to build lasting relationships with the Aboriginal community.

Rather than a traditional sponsorship model, this program has been designed around partnership. It recognises that strong communities are built when organisations, businesses and community work together towards shared goals. By creating opportunities for collaboration, investment and mutual respect, we're helping build a stronger future for everyone.

For Aboriginal businesses, the program is about visibility, opportunity and growth. Every dollar spent with an Aboriginal business strengthens families, creates employment, builds economic independence and helps keep wealth within our communities.

For businesses joining the program, it's an opportunity to be part of something bigger than a sponsorship. Reconciliation isn't achieved through a statement on a website or a single event. It happens when businesses invest in relationships, take the time to understand the communities they work alongside, and make a genuine commitment to creating positive outcomes together.

We know that many businesses want to contribute in a meaningful way. This program provides a practical pathway to do just that. It creates opportunities to connect with community, support Aboriginal-led initiatives and demonstrate that reconciliation can be lived through everyday actions, not just during National Reconciliation Week, but all year round.

For our members, it means knowing that the businesses participating in the program have made a conscious decision to support Aboriginal community. It means having access to businesses that value respect, cultural understanding and genuine partnership.

At its heart, this program is about shared success. Strong partnerships create lasting relationships and when we work together with honesty, respect and a shared purpose, reconciliation moves beyond conversation and becomes something we can all see, experience and be part of.

Our purpose

The ALALC Community Benefits Scheme has been created to deliver meaningful value to our members while supporting strong community connections and responsible business partnerships.

The program connects members with trusted suppliers who share ALALC’s values and commitment to cultural respect, ethical business practices, and positive community outcomes. Through these partnerships, members can access a range of exclusive benefits while supporting businesses that contribute to the wellbeing and growth of our community.

By working with carefully selected Sponsored Suppliers, the scheme helps strengthen relationships between members, businesses, and the broader community while protecting and enhancing ALALC’s reputation and community standing.

How the Program Works

The Community Benefits Scheme connects ALALC members with trusted businesses and service providers that have been carefully selected and endorsed by ALALC.

1. Approved Suppliers

ALALC identifies and endorses businesses that meet our cultural, ethical, and service standards. These businesses become approved Community Benefits Scheme suppliers.

2. Exclusive Member Benefits

Participating suppliers provide exclusive benefits to ALALC members, which may include:

Discounted pricing

Priority access to services

Special offers and promotions

Additional value-added services

3. Direct Engagement

Members deal directly with the supplier when obtaining products or services. This allows members to choose the services that best suit their individual needs.

4. Supporting Local and Ethical Businesses

The scheme encourages members to engage with businesses that align with ALALC’s values and commitment to supporting community outcomes.

5. Governance and Accountability

While ALALC endorses and promotes participating suppliers, all service agreements remain between the member and the supplier. This ensures members receive valuable benefits while maintaining transparency, accountability, and appropriate governance arrangements.
